You’ve Got Big Ears!
Coming up with my logo for my Home Studio was a fun and effortless thing. Mainly because I live with a very brilliant man whose mind is over the top, filled with so many amazing ideas and stories.
Sitting in my living room on August 8, 2024, I was having my morning coffee, when I looked over at my partner Gary and said, “I need to come up with a Logo for my new Home Studio. You are so good at that, what do you think?” (he is excellent at this by the way). He looked over at me and said, “Oh, I have a story for you. Did you know that Miles Davis used to go to recording sessions, and after a session with a good audio engineer, he would go over to them and whisper, “You’ve got Big Ears!”
Wow!! What? There it is!!! I had it!!!
I immediately knew what I had to do!!! I have had a relationship with Rabbits my entire life. I raised them as a child. I love rabbits. I had two rabbits, Sprite and Nibbles. My father built a hutch for them in the backyard, and I began the task of caring for them.
Later in my life, I have had numerous rabbits as pets, and then most recently had a mother rabbit bring her babies into our living room and store four tiny babies under our couch. We didn't know that until she came to the door one day, trying to get in. I was sitting on the couch one day, on the phone with my friend Frank, when she suddenly hopped into the house and started searching the entire house for them. I had no idea what she was doing…..
The next day, Gary noticed two tiny things crawling out from under our couch…. lo and behold… baby bunnies!!!
We put them in a box outside the back door, and Momma came and took care of them. She left them to sleep during the day and then came back at night. They eventually grew and hopped away.
So with that story in me, I opened up Canva and started drafting a Logo for “Big Ears Recording Studio.” Within 20 minutes, I had the ears and the microphone set up, found a fun template with cool fonts…. and I was done!!
Big Ears is a nod to the Rabbits, but also to Listening. I try every day to support the logo. Listening for me is an Art Form. Listen. Mix. Re-listen. Re-mix. Some days I know that I am hearing everything that I need to do to create a GREAT mix. Other days, I need to open up more and listen.
Listening to my clients who are exceptional Artists is also my goal. And hearing sometimes is hearing something between their words, and not what they are saying. Again, an Art form.
So that is what this Blog will be about. Stories about clients, listening, hearing, and mixing!! I hope you will enjoy the journey with me.!
